The film adaptation of the beloved musical Wicked was a major box office and critical success — and soon, fans will be able to watch it from home. Starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Jonathan Bailey, and directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked will debut on SkyShowtime on July 6, 2025.
The film won two Academy Awards, taking home trophies for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. It’s based on the 2003 Broadway hit Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz. The story explores powerful themes of friendship, prejudice, and moral choices highly relevant in today’s polarized world.
According to the review by MeriStation, “the dynamics between the two leads and the allegories about our own biases deepen the story and enrich the script. The film unfolds at a thrilling pace, making its nearly three-hour runtime fly by. A stunning musical spectacle that’s best experienced on the big screen.”
