Nick Offerman just accepted the most entertaining mission of his career — and it started with a perfect Mission: Impossible-style twist. On May 6, during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Offerman shocked the audience by removing a rubber face mask, revealing that he’d been hiding in plain sight as a member of the show’s band.
The grand entrance was a fun homage to the legendary face-reveal trope from the Mission: Impossible franchise. Now, Offerman officially joins the action-packed universe in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning as Sydney, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, working under President Erika Sloane (played by Angela Bassett). The film hits theaters on May 23, 2025.
In the interview, Offerman joked about working alongside Tom Cruise: “By the end of my first day, I told my wife, ‘I’m in love with Tom Cruise.’ He’s just got this laser-sharp focus… That’s his superpower.”
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the upcoming installment is expected to be the most ambitious and emotional entry in the franchise yet. “What you see in the trailer doesn’t even scratch the surface of what Tom does in the movie,” teased McQuarrie.
Offerman also quipped that this is the biggest film he’s ever done: “I was in Miss Congeniality 2, a fine, fine action film — with all due respect. But no, this is next level.”
