Zoë Kravitz and Naomi Ackie Deliver a Suspenseful Masterpiece in ‘Blink Twice’
Zoë Kravitz makes a bold directorial debut with “Blink Twice”, a provocative thriller that combines psychological tension with sharp social commentary. Starring Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum, the story follows Frida (Ackie), a thrill-seeker who accepts an invitation to disgraced tech CEO Slater King’s (Tatum) private island.
Upon arrival, Frida jokingly says: “Blink twice if I’m in danger.” But as lavish dinners and excessive parties unfold, suspicion grows, and lighthearted jokes about “human sacrifices” suddenly feel ominous.
Kravitz shared how dedicated Ackie was during the demanding shoot. In one grueling night scene, Ackie, exhausted and unfed, refused to stop. “I have a picture of her lying on the ground with a gun to her head and a sandwich in her hand. She’s the hardest working person I’ve ever seen,” Kravitz marveled.
The cast includes an ensemble of standout performances from Christian Slater, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, and Adria Arjona. Originally, the script even featured cannibalism, but Kravitz revealed that Tatum’s insights led to a changed—and more powerful—ending.
The connection between Kravitz and Ackie shines through. “I was trying to direct Naomi to hit a specific tone,” Kravitz laughed. “She pulled out the Gabrielle Union nose scrunch, and I said, ‘Yes! That’s it!’”
With its dark atmosphere and uncomfortable truths, “Blink Twice” challenges audiences to reconsider trust, power, and hidden intentions.
Now playing in theaters, Blink Twice is already being called one of the year’s most compelling thrillers. Don’t miss it!
