Earlier this week, Disney offered a private press screening at its new NYC campus to unveil the highly anticipated trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third chapter in James Cameron’s epic sci-fi saga. Though attendees were technically asked not to publish full reviews, social media reactions were encouraged—so here’s a spoiler-free breakdown of what we saw.
The trailer is a breathtaking visual experience that once again justifies the existence of theatrical 3D. Pandora’s landscapes shine in vibrant detail, with a new focus on airborne travel through giant sky-boats pulled by translucent manta ray–like creatures. This installment also introduces us to a volcanic, scorched territory inhabited by the terrifying Ash Clan. Pale, intense, and armed with military flamethrowers, they deliver chilling lines like “Your goddess has no dominion here.”
The infamous villain Quaritch appears to have embedded himself among these fire-wielding Na’vi, potentially setting the stage for more emotional conflict with his son Spider, who lives among the Sully family. Tension is also rising between Jake and Neytiri, with a dramatic exchange hinting at internal family strife.
Action lovers won’t be disappointed—massive battles, tribal clashes, and high-stakes war scenes fill the trailer. And yes, tulkuns (the intelligent whale-like creatures from the previous film) make a majestic return.
The trailer is expected to be publicly available very soon. Until then: kìyevame (see you soon, in Na’vi)!
