Robert Eggers Returns to the Dark: Werwulf Set to Reunite Nosferatu Stars

Director Robert Eggers is officially moving forward with his next chilling project, Werwulf, and he’s bringing some familiar faces along for the ride. Sources confirmed to Deadline that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is locked in for the lead role, while Lily-Rose Depp is currently in negotiations to join the cast.

Eggers, best known for The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman, will both direct and co-write the film alongside his longtime collaborator Sjón (co-writer of The Northman). The film will be produced and financed by Focus Features, with Eggers and Sjón also on board as producers. Chris and Eleanor Columbus from Maiden Voyage will serve as executive producers.

While plot details are being kept secret, the title Werwulf strongly suggests a storyline centered around mythical werewolf lore — a fitting return to horror for Eggers.

This marks another collaboration between Eggers, Taylor-Johnson, and Depp, who recently starred in Nosferatu, Eggers’ biggest box office success so far. Taylor-Johnson also appears in the upcoming 28 Years Later.
