Detective Benoit Blanc is back—and this time, he’s headed to Canada.
The third film in Rian Johnson’s beloved murder mystery series, “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025. The star-studded cast includes Daniel Craig, returning as the charming Southern sleuth, alongside Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, and Andrew Scott.
Other major additions to TIFF’s prestigious lineup include:

“Roofman”, an action-comedy based on the bizarre true story of a former Army ranger turned thief who hid inside a Toys “R” Us. Starring Channing Tatum, the film will also premiere globally at TIFF.

“Hamnet”, directed by Chloé Zhao, is a fictional tale based on the life of Shakespeare’s son, featuring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley. It will have its Canadian premiere.

The 50th edition of TIFF runs from September 4 to 14, 2025. The festival will open with “John Candy: I Like Me,” a documentary by Colin Hanks and Ryan Reynolds. Upcoming additions include “The Christophers” by Steven Soderbergh and “Hedda” by Nia DaCosta.
